Dominique Salm was born in Jamaica in 1972, where she spent her early childhood before relocating with her family to Hampshire. Having always been passionate about art and wildlife, she completed an illustration degree and went on to combine her love of both, to build a reputation nationally and internationally as a skilled wildlife artist.
Having painted a wide range of animals and birds, Dominique works from personal preference as well as commissions. Her ability to perfectly capture each animal’s unique character gives her work a most distinctive style.
Dominique works in watercolour, with an unusual and bold approach which is perfectly suited to the scale and subject matter of her paintings.
In 2005 the Countryside Alliance commissioned Dominique for images to be used as greetings cards. She was also invited to take part in the “Art of Care” postcard auction, in aid of the December 2004 tsunami disaster. Her image of a leopard received one of the highest bids.
