What strikes me most about meerkats when drawing them is how the texture of their fur differs from most other small animals. It is dense and dark underneath with a top coat that is light, whispy, and spikey. Drawing the fur of an animal like this is more of a task of illustrating many tiny triangular shapes with different degrees of shading.
