Elephants are magnificent animals, but this baby African had a charm all of its own. I remember how safe and secure it looked, peering out from the protection of those great legs and trunk. I think elephants lend themselves very well to the medium of pencil because of their grey colours and tones, but they are, nevertheless, a time consuming subject to draw due to the layer upon layer of shading required to faithfully depict their skin tones.
